Rubber Rollers, Paper Transport, Fuser Pressure and Platen rolls for Printer and Copier machines

Start Your Project

Ames has provided high-quality products for office equipment since 1948 when it developed the required synthetic rubber compounding for manufacturing coated platen rollers for typewriters.

While a lot has changed since then, the demands for an infinite variety of rollers and belts that guide paper through the automation process has never slackened. Today we apply our compounding and applications knowledge to create business automation products which are exceptionally durable and, depending on the requirement, accurate to within microns. Ames draws from dozens of different processes to create the product, including conventional and state-of-the-art coating processes for protective coatings and precision coatings. With office automation manufacturing facilities in North America and Europe, our customer base includes such industry leaders as Xerox, IBM, Lexmark, and Pitney Bowes.

One of the core manufacturing competencies required of rubber rollers is the ability to over-mold various elastomeric materials onto metal inserts. The ability to maintain proper bond strength between the dissimilar materials is one of the key aspects to this process.

Our grinding capabilities allow us to provide the most precise dimensional tolerances as well as improved concentricity. Varying finishes can also be achieved through this grinding process  to meet the specific function of the rollers.

One of our recent technologies we have developed in this field is our Dent Resistant Coating (DRC)Technology. Ames has developed a series of fusing constructions which use a  thin Fluoropolymer  top layer to provide both dent-resistance and increased toner release, due to low surface tension of the coating.  We continue to develop new technologies to support the demanding requirements of this market.
