Sealing of Fuel Cell components
Fuel Cell stack, Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA), and Bipolar Plate manufacturers face the dual challenge of improving sealing performance and durability, while reducing costs. The AMESSeal liquid delivery system automatically dispenses and bonds a thin bead of low-durometer elastomers directly onto metal, graphite or polymer substrates, thereby cutting in half the possible sources of leakage, compared to traditional die-cut or molded gaskets. Our patent pending process for applying multiple layers of elastomers allows us the means to adapt our process to meet our customers’ specific sealing needs. A typical multilayer gasket would combine the compliance and sealing of silicone, with the improved chemical and temperature resistance and durability of a fluoroelastomer.
The programmable liquid delivery system applies gaskets in an infinite number of complex patterns, without upfront tooling and/or mold costs. In addition, gasket costs are further reduced through the elimination of material waste and lowering of gasket assembly costs.
When called for Ames can utilize its extensive compression and injection molding capabilities to fabricate die-cut or molded gaskets.
The sealing of thinner substrates such as Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEA’s) and Gas Diffusion Layers (GDL’s) can be accomplished through our extensive coatings processes.
Coatings for Wind Turbine Blades
Our AMESShield tm Coatings provide the same benefits in wind turbine applications as they do in the aircraft components:
Protection against erosion caused by sand and other Foreign Objects and Debris (FOD)
Greatly improved ice phobic characteristics
Durability to withstand exposure to various harsh environments
Solar Panels
Many of the components in solar energy panels require protection from the elements. Our product capabilities to manufacture highly durable precision molded parts, protective coatings, and dispensed gaskets can all be applied to various solar panel components.
